2021 Election schedule to be announced...

So there we have it then, the timetable for the national elections will be released on May 27th to the public by the National Independent Electoral Committee (NIEC). The statement was issued by the office of Ms Halimo Ismael, the chief of the National electoral committee.

Opposition parties can now sleep knowing fully well that the government did not turn out to be the "bogeyman" they feared but rather credit to each and everyone as they played well in holding nerves and let the law settle things.

However, the mandate of the NIEC is up soon (June or July I presume) and it will be interesting to see how their announcement will be taken after once the mandate expires. Then what will be the case? Would an expired committee have any legislative powers?

The fear is that if any extension is granted for NIEC then it may well mean an extension for parliament and further on and you get the idea of where I'm going with this. There's also the threat of COVID19 as cases steadily continue to rise and may adjust the timetable too.

And what about the Federal States (Maamul Goboleedyada)? Anybody heard about them lately on their thoughts of the process? I think perhaps I may need to reconsider and withdraw my advise earlier to the opposition to finally get some rest as we may be in for a long ride.

Buckle up with the nerves people, we have the world looking at us so lets all try to be reasonable and behave and respect the constitution however qabyo (unfinished) it is.

Now please remember ladies and gentlemen; It's should not be about any of you.

It should be about the nation.

Repeat after me; It should be about the State. It should NOT be about me.. It should be about the state. It should NOT be ab....

May 27th. Put that in your dairy.
