Diaspora vs Locals blah blah.. All politics is what I smell.

How long will it take for us to figure the tricks being played? I mean really, time and time again we continue to fall for anything that is put in front of us. Take the current argument taking shape on social media where an Ethiopian Airlines emergency flight had arrived recently to take 160 diaspora's to return to their countries of residence. What is wrong you may ask?

Well, their departure unearthed a deep rooted suspicion that the diaspora community are only in Somalia for the wealth and nothing else. When things get sticky; they depart without any hesitation towards solidarity whatsoever.

But the thing is, only 160 had departed and does that really count as a percentage compared to the many diaspora returnees who are in their homes in Somalia spread throughout the country with their loved ones in these difficult times?

Like myself included where I have a young family stationed here; It is my responsibility and duty to take care of my family in these difficult times. At the end of the day, it is my choice.

Let me tell you what is wrong; the dubious political tactics played with our emotions in return displaying heated arguments in public; for the world to see is what the problem is. It is kind of pointless really to see us on each-others throats with one another although I did, admittedly, enjoyed the jabs thrown especially towards the diaspora community. The sheer emotion-driven reaction made my night.

Responding tweets such as; "THIS IS OUR COUNTRY TOO."

All with capital letters to show the anger.

The raw emotion!

But come on guys, This is campaign season so expect every dirty trick on the book and this may be the beginning of what may turn out to be a long election. The diaspora community shouldn't be worried as they are not the intended direct target rather the aim I think was very political as the highest positions of the state is currently held by, you guessed it; diasporas. You get the point yet?

Expect to be tarnished and expect to be targeted through media propaganda because guess what, it is election season and when you look at the books; The Premier, the PM, Speakers of both lower and higher I believe (correct me If I'm wrong) are all diaspora. How bait was the target?

The jab reeked of politics from a mile away.

The contribution from the Diaspora cannot be ignored nor can it be tarnished by few tweets here and there rather it just happens to be a very easy target to reach, hit and triggered.

We have the same problem here in Malawi but we have to learn to support each other and avoid behaviours disuniting a community
